The Meaning of the Holy Qur'an for School Children is a graphic-intensive translation of the Qur'an tailored to the needs and interests of young readers. It contains the full translated text in child-friendly English, reasons for revelation and information of interest to better understand the verses. Great for grades 3-7 and beyond.
I have read several Quranic translations that stand out as a single volume work, but I havent seen a work that specifically caters to the younger audience (school children). One could state that T.B Irvings Quran translation to English was meant to bring simple American english to the fore.As any book for children, the work(1) has a translation of the Quranic verse and in many instances a "Background to the Sura / Verse" - it makes for much intelligible text(2) to that Quranic verse if there is a theme - that theme is shared(3) and if there is a reason for revelation to the Quran with a meaningful story that is also shared(4) and since the primary and first recipient of revelation is the Prophet Muhammad (S) a story or a narration from him is related and(5) where the work where a visual or picture is drawn, it is also meant to draw the reader in to their own world, and part of this pictorial presentation is the use of bold and italicized font to bring home a point, and(6) Stories from the lives of the Prophet's (S) Companions are also scattered through out the workMany of the ethical mores of the Quranic verses and its identification by bold or italicized makes it easy to identify the critical themes.Lastly, it is so confusing what this work covers as opposed to the other Quranic Juzz for Children, that I seem to recall are in 3 volumes - do these two works compliment each other or are they in over-lap. This is a beautiful work and takes itself to respect the attention span of Children when reading their Divinely revealed text
